We recently found this wonderful children’s book In Grandma’s Garden by Brenda West Cockerell. It really touched my heart because my children spend a lot of time in their grandma’s garden when they visit her. She loves to garden and has turned her back yard into a beautiful oasis with pond and all. So my daughters really related to this book. It is a very sweet, feel good kind of book for kids. The illustrations are breathtaking as well, so beautiful.
I think found out that the author had a very touching story. Brenda West Cockerell wrote this book in tribute to her dear friend Holly Horton who lost her fight to breast cancer. The proceeds of this book (all 100%) will benefit breast cancer research and support initiatives. What a great cause. I have had several family members who have battled cancer so it is a cause near and dear to my heart.
In Grandma’s Garden makes a wonderful holiday gift for children. My kids love to receive new books for the holidays. They can’t wait to read them. We actually plan to give this to my mother-in-law to read with our daughters. I think she is going to just absolutely love it and enjoy reading it with them, probably in her garden.
