For Christmas gifts for our teachers and friends we decided to make some fun treats. I cam up with this fun Christmas themed trail mix and it was a huge hit. Every really loved it. So I thought I would share it here, hope you all enjoy it too. It’s really easy, no cooking involved really and super yummy.
2-packages of microwave popcorn (any brand you like but use unsalted or lightly salted)
1-package of mini marshmallows (sometimes you can find Christmas themed marshmallows this time of year those would be cute of just use plain like we did here)
1-package of pretzel sticks (I used our favorite Newman’s Own but you can use any brand you like)
1-package of Christmas M&M’s (the ones with only red and green)
1-package of white peppermint M&M’s
1-package of almond bark (not pictured, I forgot to put it in the picture)
-Note: On the amounts of each item it is really to your preference. You will need 2 bags of popcorn for a large batch 1 for a smaller batch and all the extras you can add as much or as little as you like.
This is super easy, all you need is a microwave.
- Pop the popcorn according to the directions, spread it out on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper
- Melt the almond bark, you can do this on the stove but I just melt mine in the microwave, I just put it in for a bit stir, put it back in and just keep repeating this process until it is all melted and smooth
- Pour the almond bark over the popcorn and allow to cool
- In a large bowl add your popcorn (cooled), pretzels (I broke mine in half so they were more bite sized), both M&M’s, and marshmallows mix all together.
- That’s it, enjoy!
We put ours in some cute little Santa cups we got from Oriental Trading Company and delivered them to teachers, Girl Scout leaders, coaches, and other people the kids see on a regular basis and wanted to give a small gift to. They all loved them.
