These tissue paper stars from Oriental trading made for a really fun Christmas craft.  It was really easy.  They give you everything you need except some glue and a paint brush.  Simply use your glue glaze to make a base coat for your tissue and then cover it with another layer of the glue glaze.  Then use the foam frames and string to hang up.  They turn out really pretty.  We hung some in the windows to catch the sunlight.

Day 12-12/8/16

dscf3788

Today Sparkles our Elf on the Shelf was playing a game in our living room.  She is always doing something fun when we find her every morning.  Today she was playing Pin the Nose on the Snowman game from Oriental Trading Company.

Kids had so much fun taking turns trying to pin the nose on the snowman.  Came with everything we needed on a large sheet of thick heavy paper (so it holds up really well).  Simply punch out the large snowman and his carrot noses.  Each player gets a nose and a turn to get blindfolded (also included) and take their turn trying to stick their carrot closest to the snowman’s nose.  Great for a fun after school activity or even during a party.  Since I am homeroom mom for my youngest I plan on taking this with us to the party.

You can purchase Pin the Nose on the Snowman on Oriental Trading Company Website. Only $3.99!

Day 11-12/7/2016

dscf3782

Today we found our elf Sparkle hanging out on the door knob outside of the kid’s bedroom.  She is so silly.  My youngest refused to open the door all day because she isn’t allowed to touch Sparkle (it’s one of the rules).  She left us a fun craft.

dscf3783

She left us supplies to make door hangers that say Santa Please Stop Here!  They are super cute and easy to make.  She got the kits from Oriental Trading Company.  The kit comes with enough supplies to make 12 door hangers.  I loved that that the supplies are individually wrapped so you can pass them out to each child and they have everything they need.  Cute for holiday craft events or parties too.

dscf3787

We had a lot of fun making these, every door in my house now has a Santa Please Stop Here door hanger!  Was a really fun Christmas craft to do during homework time.  Everything had adhesive on the back, just peel of the backing and stick them on to build your door hanger.  Couldn’t be easier or more fun.  No glue or scissors need, perfect for a fast fun craft.

You can pick some of these door hangers up on Oriental Trading Company Website! Only $7.99 for a set of 12.

Day 9-12/5/2016

dscf3764

Sparkle is missing the snow in the North Pole, we have not had any yet in Oklahoma so she brought some back with her last night.  She made a bit of a mess on my kitchen counter.  Our “snow” (really coconut flakes) was all over the counter and she left us a fun black magic color scratch snowflake Christmas ornaments from Oriental Trading to make tonight.  They were a lot of fun!

The snowflake ornaments were easy to make and included everything we needed.  The set includes 24 snowflakes, 12 scratching tools and 24 satin ribbons to hang them with when you are finished.  They are covered in a black material (not really sure what the coating is made of) but you use the tool to scratch it away and it reveals color underneath.  So you can scratch it all off or scratch off a design and leave some black.  Just like real snowflakes every one is different.  The girls had a lot of fun making them and now our tree is covered in pretty colorful snowflakes!

You can purchase these black magic color scratch snowflake Christmas ornaments on the Oriental Trading Website. Only $6.99 for a set of 24!

Day 8-12/4/2016

dscf3762

Sparkle got a little tied up today while trying to make a paper chain.  That silly little elf!  She was hanging from our door tangled up in her chain.  She left us some pre-cut papers from Oriental Trading Company so we could make our own paper chains.  My kiddos love making these every year when it gets close to Christmas.  They like to take off a ring each day as a way to count down to the big day!  It’s a great activity to get us excited about Christmas.  Everyday is full of excitement as we tear off another link on the chain and see it getting shorter and shorter.

The girls had a blast using the Oriental Trading red & green Christmas tree chains.  We have made these before and just used construction paper but these pre-cut sheets from were so easy to use.  They have adhesive like on an envelope on one end, just lick and stick to the other end to make a loop.  So no glue, tape, or adhesive needed.  The package comes with 500 (250 red and 250 green) so you have a ton, enough to decorate the entire house or share with some friends.  I keep any extras around in my scrap/craft room for small projects.

You can purchase the Red & Green Christmas Tree Chains on the Oriental Trading Website here!  Only $5.99 for a package of 500.

dscf3540

She left us some extra sheets to we could make our own lists.  These little sheets are so cute.  I found them on Oriental Trading Company.  A really fun coloring sheet that you can fill in to let Santa know what you would like for the holidays.  My kiddo had a lot of fun filling hers out, in fact she made two and convinced her older sister to make one too.  They come in a package of 50 so we are going to send the extras to school Monday for her class to fill out and color.

Today Sparkle was hanging out on top of the movie case with a scavenger hunt card!  She left us clues all over the house.  Zowie was so excited running around to find the next clue.  The clues ended in the laundry room on the dryer where we found a present!

dscf3521

Our scavenger hunt cards came from our Ukloo game.  It’s a fun game full of treasure hunting fun.  We have had this game a long time but you can find it on Amazon.

dscf3523

Sparkle brought us a great little book called “12 Joys of Christmas” which is a fun twist on the old holiday song 12 days of Christmas.  Each page you add a new item to the list and discover the true joys of Christmas along the way.  The book focuses more on traditions and family time rather then on material items which I really love.  My daughter had fun reading it during our reading time tonight.  New books are a great way to connect with your kiddos and during this time of year my kiddo gets super excited about new holiday books.  It really builds the excitement throughout the month.

You can find The 12 Joys of Christmas by Thomas Seibold on Amazon.

Sparkle and her buddies were being impish last night and got into mom’s coloring book stash.  She was working on a masterpiece last night with her friends.  Looks pretty good to me.  She also brought us a fun Christmas coloring book.

Christmas Coloring Book: Magical Winter Holidays by My Masterpiece Adult Coloring Books is a great coloring book. It’s full of fun Christmas themed coloring pages.  My seven year old likes to do the more intricate images so it’s perfect for her.  We all spent time together as a family coloring some fun pages tonight while listening to Christmas music.  Such a relaxing night!

You can find the Christmas Coloring Book Magical Winter Holidays Volume 1 on Amazon!

It’s only $5.99 right now!

Day 3- 11/29/2016

Sparkle left us a note that she was up late last night playing reindeer games with Rudolph so she decided she needed a cozy lazy day.  She brought us a fun pillow from Dream Frenz and a box of hot chocolate.

Love this little Santa face pillow from Dream Frenz, so cute and festive for the holidays.  My daughter had fun lounging on the couch with her pillow and watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on TV tonight.  Thanks to Sparkle’s tip we knew it was playing.

We made us a cup of hot chocolate since it has been pretty chilly at night here and cuddled up on the couch for some fun Christmas movie watching fun.  Thanks Sparkle for the fun idea.

Day 2-11/28/2016

Sparkle was up late last night reading to some of dad’s collectables.  She had a book that was just her size and set up a cozy reading nook right on the book shelf!  They looked very interested in whatever she was reading to them.

She also brought us a great book to read during our 20 minutes of reading tonight.  It was called “Catch That Cookie”.  Zowie doesn’t know it but the book actually came from her December Bookroo box.  It came already wrapped and was perfect for Sparkle to swipe from her box and leave as a fun holiday surprise.  The book was all about a boy who didn’t believe that gingerbread cookies could come to life like in the fairy tales, but that gingerbread man fooled him and left the children in the book a scavenger hunt to follow and find where they were hiding.  It was a really cute book!  Best part about Bookroo is they send us new books every single month.  You can learn more about Bookroo by reading our review here.

We had so much fun reading our book during homework time.  Thanks to Sparkle we get to add a little holiday magic everyday when she visits us.

Day 1- 11/27/16

Our Elf is back!  We were so excited to see our elf, my seven year old started asking me about a week ago when she would be back.  It’s always been our tradition that she shows up a little after Thanksgiving depending on our visit to Grandma’s.  Sure enough our first night back at home after Thanksgiving break we woke up to find Sparkle our Elf.

6

She brought her book for us to read, we always like to re-read the book together to remind ourselves of the rules and remember what Sparkle is all about.  She was up working hard last night making us some popcorn garland and reminded us to put up our Christmas decorations today!  It’s so exciting getting the house all decorated for Santa.  Always puts us in the Christmas spirit. She brought us a fun gift too.

She brought us a fun personalized ornament!  It had our names and everything on it.  So much fun!  We are baking some cookies! She got our ornament from ornaments.com where they have hundreds of ornaments you can personalize for your own loved ones!  Their ornaments are super easy to make, just log in, pick your style, add your personalized information and it comes in no time!  Sparkle is being awesome to our readers as well and brought us an extra for a giveaway!
